One Fighting Championship have added another Shooto flyweight champion to their roster to join old foe Shunichi Kojima: Yasuhiro Urushitani!

This Singaporean promotion boasts a formidable flyweight division reminiscent of Shooto in earlier years; with two of the “Big Three” trio of BJ Kojima (who bested Yasuhiro and fan favourite Mamoru “The Fro” Yamaguchi) and Urushitani (who bested Yamaguchi in their fights, and ‘scored’ two draws with Kojima as well as dropping a bout to his fellow former champ) now signed to One FC. These Shooto legends are joined by Filipino pinweight and flyweight top 10 ranked Rey Docyogen, and the One FC Bantamweight champ’s conqueror and Road FC Bantamweight Grand Prix finalist Andrew Leone, the flyweight who went 1-1 with the UFC’s Kyung Ho Kang in 2012.

Behind these four elite names, One FC’s flyweight division also boasts San Shou champion Bruce Loh, Malaysian Sensation Gianni “Nuclear” Subba, he of the football-kick persuasion, suits you Sir, and first Singaporean Mixed Martial Artist Radeem Rahman.

Some juicy little match-ups to put together there, if “one” so desires. Adding “The Fro” to that mix would ensure that One FC’s flyweight roster would be as “name” stacked as any in MMA history!

As for Urushitani; following his Shooto title run, the once great 125lb’er suffered a brief decline in his UFC opportunity in America. Now, much like post-injury Kojima, he is back in Asia on the big stage and looking to rise back through the top 10 ranks and establish supremacy. In the process, he will have to avenge his Kojima fights, and possibly beat young bloods Leone, Docyogen, Subba et al as well.

Fantastico Flyweight Fun For all, Friends. Fabulous.

Fletch, El Infamé.
